More
than 16 congolese women massacred by the burundian
rebels in Rulimbi, DRCongo
When will the nationl and Interantional Communities
end with their guilty indifference?
More
than 16 congolese women were atrociously killed by
the burundian rebels of the “Front National de
Libération” (FNL). This new odious massacre occurred
on october 06th, 2003 in the locality of
Rulimbi, at around 14 Km on the East of the built-up
area of Sange, territory of Uvira province of South
Kivu.
The
victims whose majority were displaced women from the
village of Ndunda where going to their fields when
they met the above cited outlaws who, first, tied
their legs and arms before killing them with
side-arms.
Our
enquiry team found in Rulimbi, 10 defaced and
mutilated corpses inside and outside the Protestant
Church of the Pentecostal Community of Churches in
Central Africa (8ème CEPAC). Some others were said
to have been burried by villagers.
In
fact ther are any other massacres attributed to the
very same rebel group commanded by Mr Eugène
Bitagy’Umunyu. Among them let us cite the ones
perpetruated on:
-
January 31th, 2003 in
Nyamwoma village in which 7 people perished
and more than 40 houses burnt.
-
August 21th, 2003 in
Kaberagule village in which 3 people perished,
-
August 24th, 2003 in
Rusabagi in which 17 people perished, 9
seriously injured and more than 20 houses burnt.
Besides, in the Ruzizi Valley people rarely spend a
month without experiencing a kidnapping of people
from their fields or bus-passengers on the road
Bukavu-Uvira. Some of such victims are merely killed
and lucky ones liberated after paying much money.
The
passivity shown by the RCD movement, the Congolese
Government, the United Mission in Congo and all the
International Community towards This endemic horror
perpetrated peacefully on defenseless people by the
burundian milicious of FNL and FDD worries all the
inhabitants of the Ruzizi Valley, in particular and
those of the South Kivu province in
general.
Héritiers de la Justice
Condamns the apathy of both f the Congolese
Transition Government and the International
Community towards the killing of civilians in the
province of South Kivu, in general, and in the
Ruzizi Valley in particular. It invites them to
take an urgent action in order to stop this
barbarity.
Also, Héritiers de la Justice
invites Internatial Humanitarian Organisation such
as ICRC, WFP, International Medicaal Aid, FHI,… to
assist these vulnerable people in providing food and
drugs so as to prevent theme from going to dangerous
areas in search for food or whatever.
A suivre.
Héritiers de la Justice.
