FDRL on the doors of Shabunda: Panic within population

Front Démocratique pour la Libération du Rwanda (FDLR), a rwandan armed group operating in east DR Congo since a decade and driven away from territories of Bunyakiri and Kalonge in last February is on the way to the territory of Shabunda. This movement creates panic within the population of the mentioned territory which is currently unprotected. It has to be remembered that loyal soldiers who were positioned in this Shabunda were moved some weeks ago to Luberizi, in the Ruzizi Valley, for the army integration process.

Héritiers de la Justice asks the Congolese government and the MONUC to act preventively by sending troops in Shabunda to protect civilians against the threats of this armed group. Moreover, Heritiers de la Justice reminds that unfinished military operation against this group is a potential danger to the local communities which always pays the price. If no preventive action is taken by the government beforehands, this milician group will revenge and kill innocent and unprotected civilians.

Thus, the organization requests that the government and the MONUC resumes military operations against this group and drive them out the boarders for peace and security in remote areas which is a big factor that can influence the coming elections
