Statement by RADHOSKI on the 2nd anniversarty of
the assassination of Pascal Kabungulu
31st July
2005-31st July 2007 makes two years, day after day, since the
leading human rights defender Pascal Kabungulu was gunned down at his
home in Bukavu. The trial that began some months following the murder
was astonishingly interrupted on December 12th, 2005. Up to
now it has never resumed.
RADHOSKI (Platform of human
rights organisations in South Kivu here by advocates that:
·
The trial on the
murder of Pascal kabungulu resumes and that local authorities provide
sufficient means to carry it out.
·
All suspects
involved in the murder of Pascal Kabungulu be kept in custody until the
end of the trial. It is surprising to see some of them walking freely in
the streets of Bukavu. Some more others escaped from the prison .
·
The government works
out a protection plan for human rights defenders and journalists.
·
The trial on the
murder of the journalist Serge Maheshe be fairly carried out avoiding
mistakes done in Pascal Kabungulu’s trial.
·
The local government
designate a location to be set a monument for Pascal Kabungulu.
