NEW MASSACRE IN EAST OF THE DR.CONGO

The village of Nindja in Kabare territory was attacked on 24 May, 2005 at night by an armed group formerly called Rasta.  The latter is composed of Rwandan-Hutus and some Congolese from Izege, Kaniola, and Walungu villages.

The very first information we got state that more than ten persons were killed among whom Mr. Kahengera and his son Bujirire, several others kidnapped among whom the members of Pastor Mataba’s family, but some others injured.

According to information got from persons well informed, that massacre is the result of a recent combat opposing the FDLR to Rasta.  The following day of their battle 12 persons were kidnapped in Chololo and 15 others in Mudaka village two weeks later.  The ransom obliged to pay for each to be delivered is raised to 150 U$ payable within three days.  If not, the victims are simply killed.  Let us mention that in Nindja village there are no Governmental soldiers.  The FDLR being the only leaders of the area.

The association Héritiers de la Justice condemns that massacre against Congolese population by the so called Rasta.

It wishes the 10e Région Militaire to deploy urgently soldiers in that area which is abandoned to the FDLR and Rasta.

Moreover, the association requests that likely to Ituri District, similar attack by the FARDC assisted by MONUC should be done so as to drive away all strange criminals wherever they are on Congolese soil.
