Within its
Peace Promotion Center with Children,
Héritiers de la Justice implements a number of
peace promotion activities with children. it
is convinced that children constitute the
foundation of the tomorrow’s peaceful society once
prepared. Because it is chimerical to intend to
build peace on the basis of adults given that they
have already focalized some points of view or have
their own sideparts. They are perpetrators of
violence and cannot be easily transformed. On the
other hand, Children are malleable and, if well
prepared, the society can pin its hope on them in
order to build peace in the Great Lakes Region.
Peace Clubs:
Héritiers de la Justice set up Peace Clubs in the
schools and districts of Bukavu, Uvira and in other
areas of the South Kivu province. These Peace Clubs
are grassoots structures composed of children
engaged to build peace and ready to spread the
message of peace everywhere: in their respective
schools, districts and families, etc. A Peace Club is
basically lead by an adult: a teacher or another
person trained in peace matters. With these Peace
Clubs Héritiers de la Justice organises
extra-school activities, peace training camps,
educational excursions, and many other activities.
Teaching of the human Rights and peace in the
schools: Héritiers de la Justice implements
formal teaching programs of human rights and peace
in 40 primary and secondary schools in the
territories hereafter: Uvira, Fizi, Walungu, Kabare,
Kalehe, Mwenga, Idjwi, Shabunda and in the communes
of the town of Bukavu. These schools called Schools
for Peace (Ecoles pour la Paix) and the teachers
who execute this program are called Teachers for
Peace ( Enseignants pour la Paix). They are trained
in human rights and peace pedagogy by Héritiers de
la Justice.
Production of teaching materials: in order to
support the teaching of human rights and peace
activities in schools, Héritiers de la Justice
produced and distributed at a large scale and freely
pedagogic handbooks and materials among which: a
pedagogical guide for the teaching of human rights
and peace, human rights teaching handbook (based on
SINIKO published by Amnesty International).
